Resilience twinning project workshop: 9-11 May

A first workshop of the Resilience Twinning project will take place at Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research reserve, New Jersey, USA, on 9-11 May 2017.

Objectives

The objectives of this first workshop may be summarized as follows:

• Presentation of the participants and specific problematic and resilience approach of each MPA
• Scientific updates related to MPAs and Resilience
• Identification of twinning focus, target and best practices that can be shared
• Identification of relevant experiences in relation with MPAs and resilience in the Atlantic Basin
• Define methodology, time frame and responsibilities for the next steps
• Define strategic approach and steps for the development of a transatlantic resilience twinning initiative after the EC project
• Identification of relevant external partners to be invited for the 2nd workshop

Presentation of each MPA’s experience:
These 30 minutes presentations should focus on the following points:
• Brief description of each MPA
• Main issues linked with rapid changes regarding development (urbanization, tourism, other economic activities and related impacts), climate change.
• Strategy and approach implemented for addressing these threats.
